Dr Rouven Bodenheimer specialises in conflict resolution and renders advice on corporate law and construction law in particular. Besides civil court proceedings he has been involved in numerous arbitration cases governed both instituti-onally (DIS, ICC, LCIA, SCC, DIAC and CAS) as well as ad hoc arbitration.
He has garnered significant experience as co-arbitrator, sole arbitrator, chairman and counsel in various arbitration pro-ceedings both domestically and internationally. He is particularly experienced in disputes involving difficult technical issues and complex commercial aspects. His expertise lies in fields as diverse as infrastructure, energy, construction and intricate financial transactions.
Upon completing his formal legal education, Dr Bodenheimer published a doctoral thesis on a trade law topic in a com-parative perspective under German and English law and obtained an additional Master‘s degree in business mediation. Dr Bodenheimer has lectured mediation and international arbitration at the joint Master‘s programme of two prestigious German universities.
Dr Bodenheimer regularly publishes articles, book reviews and book contributions in the field of international arbitration and dispute resolution.In May 2014 Dr Bodenheimer was appointed co-chair of the DIS40, the under-40 member orga-nisation of the German Institution for Arbitration, as well as being an active member of the International Bar Assocation‘s arbitration committee and within that a peer-appointed founding member of the steering committee of the under-40 arbitration group. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb).

Axel Benjamin Herzberg, LL.M. (London, Queen Mary/UCL) is a dual-qualified international business lawyer. He is admitted to both, the Berlin bar, and the roll of solicitors of the Senior Courts of England and Wales.
An expert in litigating, arbitrating, and collecting claims of all kinds, both, nationally and internationally, Mr Herzberg primarily handles domestic and international arbitration as well as cross-border litigation matters. In addition to his work as party’s counsel, Mr Herzberg also frequently acts as arbitrator in international and domestic proceedings (especially ICC and DIS) and, upon nomination of the German National Committee of ICC, has been appointed member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR and of its Task Force on Emergency Arbitrator Proceedings.
Mr Herzberg’s clients come from diverse industries, including commerce, real estate, media and telecommunications, and NGOs.
Mr Herzberg, who studied law in Germany and Switzerland (2001-06), and served as a research assistant at the University of Basel, Switzerland (2006-08), began his legal career as Deputy Counsel at the Secretariat of the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris, handling some 80+ international commercial as well as investor-state arbitrations (2010-11).
In 2011, Mr Herzberg assumed a position as associate with the litigation and arbitration group of a large international law firm in Berlin where he handled international dispute matters until 2013. In 2014, Axel Benjamin Herzberg completed the University of London (Queen Mary/UCL) Postgraduate LL.M. programme in International Business Law with „merit“. Mr Herzberg is a bar-certified specialist in international business law (FA IWR).
Mr Herzberg is frequently invited as speaker, lecturer or panelist to conferences and seminars across the world. He has served foreign courts, especially in the United States, as an expert witness on German law.
Apart from his two home jurisdictions, i.e. Germany and England and Wales, Mr Herzberg has also frequently been exposed to other jurisdictions, in particular in international arbitration and litigation cases. By way of illustration, Mr Herzberg has litigated before the European Court of Justice, and frequently deals with cases involving Swiss and French law.
