The Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) was created in 1994. Initially known as the Centre for Commercial Conciliation and Arbitration, the DIAC emerged as an initiative of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry for promoting arbitration as a method of dispute resolution. The DIAC is currently the largest arbitration centre in the Middle East.

The current DIAC Arbitration Rules came into effect in 2007. They were originally drafted in English and subsequently translated into Arabic.
